At Prenton High School we believe that students should be given a wide range of opportunities to develop and practice leadership skills in preparation for life beyond school. It is vital that we develop the leadership skills necessary for students to be confident to take on positions of responsibility, achieve well in their future careers and become successful future leaders. Through these opportunities we aim to develop the qualities of good leadership: confidence, communication, commitment, positive attitude, creativity, inspiration, approachability and honesty.
The aims of our Student Leadership programme are:
- To provide opportunities for students to develop leadership skills through a variety of inspiring, challenging and valued projects which impact positively on learning, teaching and well-being for both students and staff at Prenton High School.
- To empower students to work in close partnership with other students and staff to ‘make a difference’ in all aspects of life at Prenton High School.
Students currently have a wide range of opportunities to take on leadership roles and develop these important skills for the future. During lessons students are given a range of chances to develop their leadership skills during class discussions, group work, enterprise activities and presentations.
There are also currently a large number of formal roles students can apply and for which they can be considered. They provide valuable experiences for students to stretch themselves, but also focus on improving the quality of learning and teaching in the classroom and support the school’s aim to be a place where all students are challenged, take personal responsibility, embrace new tasks and strive to be life-long learners.
