Many congratulations to our debating team of Year 8 students Phoebe and Mia (pictured) and Year 9 student Faith who took part in the PiXL ‘Up for Debate’ competition.
We were one of twenty-five competing schools from across the North West who travelled to St Peter’s School in York during the Spring holiday in April. Representing Prenton High School, they spoke in two debates (one pre-prepared, which was about the use of performance-enhancing drugs in sports, and one unseen, which was about controlled assessment v examinations).
Mrs Kenyon, Subject Leader – English, reports that all three students performed brilliantly, speaking confidently in front of an audience and two PiXL judges. Whilst they did not make the final, they took the opportunity to develop their public speaking skills.
Well done, everyone!
