We are all still trying to come to terms with the announcements made last night that GCSE and A’ level examinations have been cancelled. We do not yet know what the Government will put in place for our current Year 11, but today, Headteacher, Mrs Ayling, has given them assurance that once we know what this will be, we will endeavour to ensure that every single student receives the recognition that they deserve.
There has been a broad range of emotions amongst the students today as they have tried to process what this means. We have told them how very proud we are of each and every one of them for all that they have achieved so far, and for all that we know they will go on to achieve.
In these uncertain times we have advised students to continue to study using the resources that they have been given, because whilst we do not yet know what the Government’s plans are, many of our students will continue to study next year and this will prepare them for their next steps.
We do not know when schools will reopen, and we face the prospect that this may potentially not happen until the end of the school year. Understandably, many of our students have been upset that they may not get to celebrate the end of Year 11 in the traditional ways that they have seen in previous year groups. We have today promised Year 11 that when school is reopened we will plan events to celebrate their achievements and mark the end of their Prenton journey appropriately.
Our Year 11 students have been exemplary in their approach to their studies and their responsibility as role models for our wider community. Whilst school will be closed from tomorrow we will stay in touch with you and provide clarity regarding their qualifications as soon as we are able to do so.
Thank you once again for your continued support during these unprecedented times, it is greatly appreciated.
