Once their summer exams are completed, our Year 11 students have an extended summer break ahead. The question is, how can this time to the best advantage?
This is where Steve, Christine and Megan from the National Citizen Service, who came into school to deliver a special Year 11 assembly, have a suggestion. Their presentation offered students the opportunity to meet new people, join in with fun activities, and learn new skills – which could be a useful addition to that all-important CV or personal statement. The NCS three-phase programme ‘Adventure – Discovery – Action’ starts with a four-night residential away from home, a further five days in a university-style environment developing life skills, and finishes by students working in teams to deliver a community project of their choice.
Definitely something to think about!
