Thanks to The Prenton Theatre Company, we were taken on a magical trip to the time when nannies ruled not only the nursery but also had a big influence on their parents!

Our talented cast sang and danced their way over three consecutive evenings through a wonderful and specially scripted adaptation of Mary Poppins and, with classic songs such as “A Spoonful of Sugar”, “Chim Chim Cher-ee”, “Step in Time”, “Feed the Birds”, “Let’s Go Fly a Kite” and, of course, “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” complete with superbly co-ordinated arm actions. No wonder audiences went home humming at least one song!

Mary Poppins, written by PL Travers, was made famous by Walt Disney’s production with Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke. Our PTC production starred Cleo as Mary Poppins and Jessica as Bert, supported by Cerys and Mab as Michael and Jane, and Kaitlyn and Olivia as George and Winifred Banks. With a strong supporting cast of chimney sweeps, a bird woman, household servants, kite-flyers, a bank chairman, bank clerks and investors, park strollers, and a policeman, our production even had a group of park statues and some honey bees. Altogether, there was an amazingly huge amount of talent on display!

Thanks to PTC Director Mrs Jones, musicians Mrs Rowlinson on piano and Matthew Jones and Jack Corlett, Choreographers Ms Barr and Miss Wood, Set Designer Miss Dodd, Lighting and Sound technicians Mr Graves and Mr Hughes – and to members of the cast who made many of their own props.

Congratulations to everyone for giving us so many memorable performances!
