Against the impressive backdrop of the Bebington Oval, made famous by the 1981 film Chariots of Fire, a new set of Olympians graced the stadium for the 2019 Prenton High School Sports day.
With over 350 Years 7, 8 and 9s attending our gloriously sunny Sports Day, the stadium resounded to the loud cheers of encouragement – and accompanying Samba band rhythm – as the competing 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m and relay runners sped past before them. We saw long and high jumping, and throwing competitions, with staff joining too for their own space hopper, sack, and egg and spoon races, as well as the most competitive combined staff and students relay race.
Congratulations to form winners 7B2, 8H2, and 9H2; House winners Bedford (Year 7); and Hesketh (Years 8 and 9), and to overall winners, Hesketh House. Miss Gore, Subject Leader PE, thanks all the staff and students who contributed to an enjoyable day, and to Mrs Green, former teacher of Maths, for her superb co-ordination of all the results!
