It was a case of parting being such sweet sorrow for staff and our departing Year 11 students last Friday.
Returning to school for the last time together following their final exams, they attended a special Leavers Assembly, led by Progress Leader Mr Tang. He was supported by the Year 11 Form Tutors and Headteacher Mrs Ayling and members of the Senior Leadership Team for a celebration of the last five years, in which strong friendships had been formed and exceptional talents developed.
Form tutors’ talent was displayed with singing and dancing from Jungle Book, Toy Story and Mr Tang turning in a remarkable performance as Elsa from Frozen. Year 11 students Ellie, Erin and Lois sang ‘You’re Gonna Miss Me’, and Jodie, Lauren and Jessica entertained us with their dance routines to tracks that included ‘Show Me How to Burlesque’. A video of ‘goodbyes’ taken in departments around school – along some staff attempting the floss dance – and a surprise return to school by Mr Richardson, rounded off an emotional afternoon. Each student left with a 2018 Leavers’ Book, containing messages from staff and photographs recording their time at Prenton High School. Thanks also to our wonderful Catering staff who laid on refreshments on arrival for students.
Good luck, everyone – and please keep in touch!
