The Royal Academy of Arts is an art institution based in London, run by artists since 1768, and famous for the eminent artists and architects it exhibits.
When Mr Taylor, Subject Leader – Creative Industries, heard earlier this year that they were asking for submissions to their first Young Artist’s Summer Show, he entered fifty pieces of Prenton High School’s best art works for consideration. We are all delighted that work by Year 11 student Abbie, has been chosen as one of the pieces to be exhibited in the online gallery.
Her chosen piece is at the end of the Battle of the Heads section (see link below) but an image of her final piece and images from her sketchbook pages are attached. Based on the theme of ‘messages’, Abbie looked at the struggle for racial equality in 1960s America, looking at the role of the Black Panthers and the role of the US presidents. She was inspired by the work of Banksy, Shepard Fairey and Kurar when creating her work.
Many congratulations, Abbie!
