We are in high spirits after achieving the coveted Gold School Games Mark!
Facilitated by the Youth Sports Trust, the award is government-led initiative and recognises our commitment to the development of competition during 2018/19 academic year. To achieve the Gold accolade, schools must meet the highest standards for criteria including participation, competition, workforce and clubs.
Nikki Gore, Subject Leader for PE and Dance at Prenton High School said:
“We are over the moon that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded with the Gold School Games Mark.
“We are really proud to offer our students over 16 different sports alongside opportunities to develop important life skills through our Find my Tribe, Sports Leaders and Dance Leaders UK schemes.
“During the last academic year, 393 of our students took part in extra-curricular PE each week and we entered 73 teams into over 230 matches against other schools in nine different sports. It is fantastic to see so many young people getting involved in all aspects of school sport and this achievement is testament to their dedication.”
The awards panel praised our strong links with external sports clubs, including Wirral volleyball club and Liverpool Football Club Foundation and how we engage parents and the local community in school games. Assessors also highlighted the wide range of sports that we offer and the impressive number of students involved with extra-curricular sports activities.
