Praise for GCSE students!

Headteacher, Mrs Ayling, has said that staff “could not be prouder” of students who collected their GCSE results today.

In unprecedented circumstances, students’ results have been based this year on their achievements throughout years 10 and 11 as the COVID-19 pandemic put a halt to final exams across the country.

Results show that Prenton High School students have continued to perform strongly, maintaining the success of previous years in the core subjects of English, Maths and Science and performing consistently well in all other subject areas. The school’s positive academic outcomes, in addition to the wider skills and experiences of students, indicate that the class of 2020 are more than ready to take their next steps towards exciting futures.

Headteacher Mrs Ayling said:
“Our hearts are filled with pride today as we reunite with our year 11 students. The past few months have been very difficult but they have shown amazing resilience during periods of uncertainty.

“The results that students have been awarded are testimony to their hard work, achievements and the support that they have had from staff throughout their school journey. We are immensely proud of every single student and pleased that results have been fairly based on individual merit.

“2020 will forever be known as the year of the rainbow and today, year 11’s rainbow is looking bright, bold and full of promise. We will never forget the class of 2020 and how they have embodied our core values of trust, respect, integrity, kindness and endeavour.

“I wish them the very best of luck with their next adventures and look forward to hearing about their future successes.”

Lucie, from Port Sunlight, was one of the students celebrating today having earned the highest possible grades for almost every subject.

Commenting on her achievement she said: “I knew I had worked hard so I am really happy with my results. I am now going on to study History, Film Studies and Geography with the hope of developing a career in hazard protection.”
