Staff in our PE department have gone ‘bronze’ – and it has nothing to do with the wonderful weather we have experienced this summer!
The department has just been awarded the Bronze award following an application for the School Games Mark, a Government led award scheme facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust. The award recognises schools for their commitment to the development of competition across the school and into the community.
The school last applied for this award soon after its launch in 2012, gaining a bronze award. However, over the years the ‘bar has been raised’ with the scheme developing and improving standards – especially in the areas of leadership and seeking increased numbers of participants in physical activities.
We are delighted to have been recognised for our success to date and Ms Gore, Subject Leader – PE, and Ms Doyle teacher of PE, are already putting plans in place for this academic year to work towards the silver award.
Congratulations to you both!
