Looking After our Mental Health

Our events so far during Mental Awareness Week have been helped by some wonderful sunny weather. Today at lunchtime, students met up with the Prenton Daisies gardeners in the garden for a ‘Keep Calm in the Garden’ session.

Whilst some relaxed by planting seeds and potting plants – so they can watch them grow over the coming weeks – others spent time around the garden pond viewing the plentiful wild-life it sustains, and even catching a glimpse of the occasional frog.

In the school playground, School Counsellor Michelle Higgins led a Mindfulness session in the sunshine. As the pictures illustrate, everyone was suitably fortified for the afternoon’s lessons.

We have a full week of lunchtime and break activities that include: HeadSpace peer to peer support, Sing Yourself Happy, Keep Calm and Make Something, Yoga in the gymnasium, and talks about Mental Health in the Learning Resource Base.

Thanks to Michelle, everyone has been encouraged just to come along to the sessions and try something new, for our mental health’s sake.
