Headteacher’s Welcome

Welcome To Prenton High School For Girls.

On behalf of the Governors, staff and students of Prenton High School for Girls, I am very proud to welcome you to our school and the only all-ability, all-girls’ school serving local communities throughout Wirral.

Following an inspection from Ofsted in March 2014, conducted using the new framework, we received a ‘Good’ report for our overall effectiveness, achievement of students, quality of teaching, behaviour and safety of students and leadership and management.

I understand that choosing the right secondary school for your daughter is one of the most important decisions you will take and that here in Wirral, with the selection process at the age of 11 or younger, it can be extremely stressful. At the ‘half-way’ stage in their education and with the most important years ahead, we believe in making a difference so that all students are encouraged and inspired to be the very best that they can be.  All students should be able to look forward to academic and personal success, progressing to further and higher education as well-qualified young women, with transferable skills and strong self-esteem.

Here at Prenton High School for Girls, we welcome all, and we fully endorse the research that girls do better in all-girls’ schools. There is no doubt in our minds that the girls who choose Prenton have a distinct advantage over those who experience a mixed-gender education. Our girls can experience many exciting opportunities, taking on roles and responsibilities ahead of their years that would not be available elsewhere.

Our aim is ‘to make a difference to the life aspirations and opportunities available to the students we teach’ and you will see from our prospectus this permeates all that we do. We strive for excellence and expect the highest standards and achievements from our girls at all times, be that in their appearance, their behaviour, their effort and their attitude, both within the classroom and in their personal lives.

We really encourage visits to our school – you don’t have to wait for our Open Events. Come and see our school in action; we will be delighted to show you around on a normal working day. Simply contact the school and appropriate arrangements will be made for either myself, or one of my senior staff, to welcome you and answer any questions you may have.

Experience for yourself the calm and purposeful atmosphere recognised by Ofsted and all who visit the school.

I look forward to welcoming you soon.

Yours sincerely,

Lisa Ayling, Headteacher
