Chair of Governors Welcome

On behalf of the Governing Body I am delighted to welcome you to our school.

We have extremely high expectations of both staff and students here at Prenton and under the outstanding guidance of our Senior Leadership Team and all the staff, we will do our utmost to ensure that every student achieves the best possible outcomes.  Having converted to an academy trust in 2011, we have placed significant emphasis on improving standards both in terms of investment in our facilities, but also in ensuring our teaching staff are able to nurture all of our students and provide support and challenge when and where it is most needed.

The excellent results achieved by our year 11 students earlier this year demonstrate how effective a non-selective school can be and how the aspirations of our students are just as ambitious as the aspirations of students at selective schools.

Our increasing roll for the last three consecutive years is testimony to the fact that an education at Prenton really does make a difference in helping to prepare students both academically and personally for the next stage in their education.

As a governing body and directors of the academy trust, our principle role is to make sure Prenton has a clear strategic direction, that we are holding the headteacher to account and that money is well spent.   In fulfilling these obligations, we take our responsibilities extremely seriously and have a governing body with the skills, knowledge and expertise to make sure we are able to support and challenge the school to deliver the right outcomes.

I am looking forward to working with you over the coming years.  It is a very exciting time to be involved with Prenton High School for Girls.

Kind regards,

Mr Peter Sandman
