Governing Body

Our School Governors

Prenton High School has a highly committed board of Governors all of whom have their own unique skills and area of expertise and who all share a common desire to provide the best possible education and opportunities for our students.

The Governing Body consists of elected Governors, parent and staff Governors and the Headteacher.  As an Academy, our Governors form our Board of Directors and carry the added responsibility of acting as Trustees, due to our charitable status.

Roles and responsibilities

The Governors work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to lead, manage and develop the school.  Specifically, the Governors strive to ensure that the key objectives and targets contained within the School’s Development Plan (SDP) are achieved.  These objectives fall within four key areas, namely:

  • Leadership and Management
  • Teaching
  • Student Achievement
  • Behaviour & Safety of students

Each of the Governors’ sub committees focuses on supporting one of these areas and actively work to ensure that objectives are met.  The School Development Plan features on the agenda for every Committee meeting and each Committee meets at least once per term.

In summary, Prenton High School’s Governing Body aims to:

  • provide a strategic view for the school
  • to act as a critical friend, by challenging and questioning leadership decisions, and
  • to ensure accountability in all that we do.

Correspondence for the Chair or any other member of the Governing Body should be addressed to the Clerk to the Governors at the school address, or alternatively by email to .  Any correspondence received will be forwarded immediately.
