Our commitment to Shaping Futures, encouraging our students a learn more about further and higher education, continued with a trip to the University of Chester.
A group of thirty-seven Year 9 and Year 10 students traveled with Mr S Taylor, Subject Leader – Creative Industries, to the University’s Art department for a full day of activities. Starting with a viewing of the department’s Degree Show exhibition, they studied work that included photographs, graphics, printing, and sculptures.
Students then worked on drawing exercises, using the Degree Show as inspiration. There was very positive feedback from our students following the trip with one saying she enjoyed the challenge they set of drawing under pressure, how useful it was to learn more about studying at university, and to find out more about their Art and Photography courses. Another said of the day: ‘I enjoyed looking at other students’ Degree work which then inspired me to go on and create my own designs.”
