Chefs of the Future

Congratulations to Freya and Lucy who will represent us in the SpringBoard Future Chef local finals.

As part of the school heat, students were asked to produce a main meal in 1 hour for less than £5. Mr Taylor, Mrs Hepke, Mrs English had the pleasure of judging the meals along with student Ciara, who reached the national final last year out of a staggering 14,000 entries.

Freya and Lucy’s winning dishes were Chorizo and Mozzarella Pasta Bake and Oriental Beef Noodles and they faced tough competition from fellow contenders Ellie, Mya and Emma who also produced wonderful meals.

Future Chef aims to inspire young people to cook through:

  • Classroom resources & activities
  • Industry skills demos & challenges
  • Competitions & awards

The national competition is comprised of 4 stages including:

Stage 1: School heats

Stage 2: Local finals judged by industry chefs

Stage 3: Regional finals judged by industry chefs

Stage 4: National final judged by industry and celebrity chefs. 1 winner is announced from 12 finalists, along with the 2nd and 3rd placed runners up.
