Following their practice expedition over the gentle terrain of Wirral last term, our seventy-six Year 9 and Year 10 Duke of Edinburgh Bronze students have successfully completed a more serious challenge in the hilly wilderness of Wales. Their qualifying expedition, around Chirk, went well with just one exception – all the early May sunshine had made the ground so dry that many found it tricky knocking in their tent pegs!
Becky, Mia and Naheeda are pictured as well as Lucie, Holly, Jess, Grace, Jess, Lucy and Kira with Leader Alex.
Thanks to Miss Gore, Mr Robinson, Mrs Johns, Mrs Pinder and Mrs Brown for helping with the organisation of the weekend.
Thanks also to Mrs G Fraser and Mrs Johns who accompanied our five Duke of Edinburgh Silver candidates on their recent qualifying expedition in Lancashire. Fortunately, they experienced much better weather than the wind, rain, sleet and snow they faced during their practice expedition in the county earlier in the year.
We wish all students the best of luck with the remainder of their tasks!
