A Moving Visit to Auschwitz

The Holocaust Educational Trust is a charity that aims to educate young people of every background about the Holocaust and, as well as working in schools, the Trust plays a leading role in teacher training and has ensured that the Holocaust forms part of the National Curriculum for History.

Thanks to the Trust, Mr B Taylor, teacher of History, and Mrs Simpson, teacher of PSRE and Humanities, have taken part in the Lessons from Auschwitz project, a four-part course, that explores the universal lessons of the Holocaust and its relevance for today. Following a half-day seminar, they visited the former Nazi concentration and death camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau.

The photographs here illustrate and reflect the extraordinary and deeply emotional educational experience both teachers experienced on their visit.
